Ambassador Kinteh presents Letter of Credence to President Xi

His Excellency Masanneh Nyuku Kinteh, Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to the People's Republic of China presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People on Wednesday, 14^th April 2021.

During the colourful ceremony, President Xi received credentials from 29 newly-appointed Ambassadors to China including the United Nations Resident Coordinator. In addressing the group of Ambassadors, President Xi conveyed warm wishes to His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia. He pointed out that over the past year, the Chinese people and the people of other countries have worked together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, writing a new chapter in the history of global friendly cooperation.

President Xi Jinping indicated that this year marks the 100^th Anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and it is also the first year for China to implement its 14^th Five-Year Plan and embark on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist country. He noted that China will firmly implement its new development philosophy and actively forge a new development paradigm so that its development will better benefit the people around the world. This year also marks the 50^th Anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations, and the 20^th Anniversary of China's accession to the World Trade Organization. China stands ready to work with the rest of the world to firmly uphold multilateralism, safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order underpinned by international law, staunchly safeguard the multilateral trade system, firmly advance the construction of the global governance system, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. President Xi further indicated that the Beijing Winter Olympics will be held next year and he is confidence that with the active support and participation of all parties, we will overcome the impact of the pandemic and host the Games in a simple, safe, and excellent manner.

President Xi Jinping stressed that the Chinese people always cherish friendship and love peace, stand ready to deepen friendship, enhance mutual trust and expand cooperation with people from all countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefits, and jointly advance Belt and Road cooperation with high quality. He hopes that the envoys will make active contributions to the promotion of bilateral relations as well as the cooperation between the United Nations and China.
